OUR RESPONSIBILITIES



 

The scope of activities of the IT Section at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science (WMiI) at the University of Łódź includes, among others:

  • Managing the faculty’s IT network — both wired and wireless. Ensuring network continuity and supervising network devices such as firewalls, routers, switches, WiFi controllers, and access points.

  • Ensuring continuous operation and supervision of servers within the faculty network structure.

  • Maintaining the security of information, data, and services in the IT systems of WMiI under the supervision of the IT Section.

  • Managing access rights to resources and services in the IT systems of WMiI overseen by the IT Section.

  • Providing IT support to WMiI staff concerning software and services used within WMiI and the University of Łódź systems, including basic troubleshooting in case of failures.

  • Providing technical support for operating Teams Rooms.

  • Assisting in organizing Teams meetings, including setting up polls, generating reports, and archiving recordings.

  • Supervising faculty and educational computer equipment (in staff rooms, computer labs, and student-accessible areas) along with the installed software.

  • Ensuring continuous operation of the WMiI computer labs.

  • Managing and maintaining an appropriate level of protection against malware on servers and staff computers at WMiI.

  • Co-creating, managing, and maintaining WMiI websites and other websites under the IT Section’s control.

  • Managing software licenses made available to WMiI staff and students, especially for Statistica, Mathematica, and Matlab.

  • Developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining specialized software that streamlines educational and administrative processes.

  • Supervising compliance with personal data protection regulations for WMiI staff.

  • Modernizing and expanding IT systems used at WMiI.

  • Providing expert support during the procurement and implementation of new computer hardware and software at WMiI, as well as the disposal of worn-out or damaged equipment.

 

 

Microsoft Azure Education – Free Microsoft Software


Students and staff of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science (WMiI) can access Microsoft products free of charge, including Office 365, operating systems, application development environments, and server software.

The software can be installed on both university and personal computers (non-commercial use only).

To use the service, you must:

  • Have active student status at the University of Łódź,

  • Have an active account in the Active Directory system,

  • Complete the activation process on the Microsoft Azure Education portal.

To complete your registration, please activate your account by clicking[here].

Once your account is successfully activated, you can log in to Microsoft Azure Education using your Active Directory login and password (use your university credentials).

 

STATISTICA- Software


Employees and students of our faculty are eligible to use the STATISTICA v.13.3 software, along with additional analytical modules that expand the functionality of Statistica (Marketing and Market Analysis Module, Medical Module, PLUS Module, Naturalist Module, Clinical Module, Scoring Module, Maps Module), under the license purchased by the University of Łódź.

Upon registration, you will receive an email with a link to the installation files and an installation code.

The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Łódź has 10 computer labs: C101, C105, C107, C109, C120, C201, C202, C203, C208, and C215.

They are available Monday through Thursday from 8:15 AM to 7:30 PM, and on Fridays from 8:15 AM to 3:30 PM.

The labs are intended exclusively for students of the Faculty of Mathematics

and Computer Science at the University of Łódź.

WIFI - WMiI


There are two wireless networks available in the building of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Łódź:

 

 

Eduroam network – for staff, students, and doctoral candidates of the University of Łódź, as well as guests who have access to the eduroam network at their home institutions.
Login is done using the University of Łódź Active Directory account.

The eduroam network is also available in other University of Łódź buildings and at a vast number of academic locations worldwide.

WMiI network – for staff, students, and doctoral candidates of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science. Access is granted after registering your device’s MAC address via the form available from the faculty network, click [here].
This also applies to users who want to change previously registered MAC addresses.

Note!

A student may register a maximum of two network card addresses.

The University of Łódź Active Directory account allows logging into Office 365, USOS, Moodle, the Staff Portal, and other university-wide resources.
